Welcome to Dr. Ruby Jamil, Virtual Psychology

Hello! My name is Ruby.

I am a clinical psychologist licensed with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario. I graduated with my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Windsor in 2020. I have over a decade of experience providing therapy and psychological assessments to children and teens in the Windsor-Essex region.

While I have extensive experience with youth, I am currently expanding my practice to support adults as well. During this learning stage, my work with adults will be supervised by another psychologist to ensure high-quality, compassionate care.

In my virtual private practice, I am offering therapy services to adolescents (ages 13-18) and adults who present with a range of concerns including anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, depression, traumatic stress, ADHD, and relationship problems. In addition to therapy, I am offering some limited assessment services, including psychodiagnostic evaluations for adults related to mental health concerns and ADHD.

Whether you're seeking therapy or a psychological assessment, my goal is to provide a thoughtful, supportive space where you can feel understood and empowered to make meaningful change.

Virtual Services Offered

Adolescent & Adult Therapy

Virtual therapy allows access to professional mental health support from the comfort of home. Sessions are conducted through Jane, a secure and easy-to-use online platform that protects your privacy and confidentiality. While virtual therapy offers flexible and accessible care, it may not be appropriate for all presenting concerns. A brief consultation will help determine whether virtual therapy is the right fit for your needs.

Adult Psychological Assessments

Virtual psychological assessments offer a convenient and secure way for adults to gain insight into their mental health from the comfort of home. Using a combination of online interviews and questionnaires, assessments can help clarify concerns such as ADHD and other mental health challenges. All assessments are conducted through the secure Jane platform. A brief consultation is required to determine whether a virtual assessment is appropriate for your specific needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • A psychologist is a licensed mental health professional trained to assess, diagnose, and treat a wide range of emotional, behavioural, and psychological challenges. In Ontario, psychologists hold a doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) and are registered with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario. They use evidence-based therapies to support clients in understanding their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. Unlike psychiatrists, psychologists do not prescribe medication but focus on talk-based interventions to promote lasting mental wellness.

  • I am currently accepting referrals for adult therapy and adult assessment. I am also accepting limited referrals for adolescents age 13-18. Services are tailored to meet the unique needs of each age group, using evidence-based approaches in a supportive, client-centered environment. If I am not the right provider for you, I will provide you with some referrals.

Please note that I am only authorized to provide services to individuals who are physically located in Ontario, Canada at the time of the appointment. This is in accordance with the regulations of CPBAO, which requires psychologists to practice exclusively within the province in which they are licensed (i.e., Ontario).

While virtual services are available to clients residing across Ontario, I prefer to accept referrals for clients located in the Windsor-Essex region. I am passionate about supporting individuals in this community and am most familiar with the local agencies and resources available to help clients thrive.

  • All new clients begin with a free 15-minute phone consultation. This brief conversation helps determine whether your presenting concerns are a good fit for my practice and whether virtual therapy is the right approach for you. It's also an opportunity to ask questions and ensure you feel comfortable before moving forward with therapy or assessment services.

  • Yes—research consistently shows that virtual therapy can be just as effective as in-person therapy for many mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress, and relationship challenges. Virtual sessions offer a convenient, flexible, and confidential way to access support from the comfort of your own space.

I use the Jane platform for virtual therapy. It’s designed for healthcare professionals and keeps client information confidential and PHIPA-compliant.

  • Therapy and/or assessment services with registered psychologists, psychotherapists, or social workers in private practice are not covered by OHIP. Individuals seeking services from these professionals usually need to pay out-of-pocket or use private insurance benefits.

  • Direct billing is available for clients with GreenShield insurance plans. However, please note that a valid credit card must be kept on file to cover any remaining balance if your insurance does not fully cover the session or if you have a late cancellation or no-show, as this is not covered by insurance.

  • The fee for a standard 50-minute therapy session is $220. Payment is due at the time of service, and receipts are provided for insurance reimbursement or tax purposes.

Assessments vary in price depending on the complexity of the presenting concern and are billed at the same hourly rate as therapy ($220/hr). An assessment involves clinical interviewing (1.5-2 hrs), obtaining collateral information from parents/spouse/report cards (0.5-1 hour), scoring of assessment measures (0.5-1 hour), report writing (3-5 hours), and a feedback session (1 hour).

Adult assessments can therefore range from $1,430-$2,200. Payment is due piecemeal as the assessment is completed.

  • Payment can be made by credit card or e-transfer. In some cases, direct billing is available for clients with eligible insurance plans.

All clients are required to have a valid credit card on file to cover late cancellations and missed appointments. Credit card information is collected and stored securely through Jane, a trusted, privacy-compliant practice management platform.
